We are all clear that the electric car is going to be the vehicle of the future. Companies are betting heavily on this type of alternative energy and much greener than oil. However, you can still go further . What would you think if there were electric cars that don't need recharging? Something impossible? At Tzedakah House we tell you everything.
The electric car that does not need recharging is about to make an appearance
Within the next ten years it is normal for most of the vehicles that circulate in the world to be electric. However, this method of alternative energy to fossil fuels continues to have its great disadvantages. For example the need to recharge every little time. While recharging a car nowadays with gasoline or diesel fuel takes us at most a couple of minutes depending on the size of the tank, the same does not happen with electric ones. The load in these cases ranges between 15 minutes (in the best case) and 30 minutes (the most common cases).
Luckily this problem is very close to being solved. Thanks to a Dutch company that has created a one-of-a-kind model: the Lightyear One . This utility vehicle, unlike other electric vehicles, does not need to stop to recharge its batteries. How did they do it? Thanks to solar energy . This model is covered by solar panels that shape its body. By means of these panels the electric battery is recharged while the car circulates or is exposed to the sun.
In other words, when the car is parked or driving under the sun, it will be continuously recharging the electric battery. The Ligthyear One is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle industry. And according to the latest data, it will go on sale from 2019 . The number of units to be manufactured will be reduced and the value of the vehicle will be around $ 119,000.
The Ligthyear One triumphs at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show
This unique electric car was unveiled at CES 2018 . Thanks to its proposal of batteries that are recharged by means of solar energy, it has won the Climate Change Innovator Award from the Consumer Electronics Show.
But this modern Dutch car not only attracts attention for its respect for the environment. But also for its mechanical reliability and elegant aesthetics.
How did the idea for the Ligthyear One come about?
The Dutch brand was commissioned to carry out an exhaustive study on one of the market niches that will benefit the most in the coming years: the electric vehicle. When observing these models, they realized that only 3% of the population had charging areas for their electric vehicles within 100 km.
Starting from that need to find a more efficient recharging method, they understood that solar energy was the source they were looking for. An energy that, even when the sky is cloudy, is present and allows charging without having to stop the car to find a plug and charge it.
The higher the light intensity, the faster the charge. The autonomy of the vehicle can reach between 400 and 800 km on a full charge.
